When we moved into our ward in Glendale, we met a really awesome couple. We soon figured out that the husband knew Caleb's dad and a couple of his brothers way back when in Tucson. In getting to know him, we learned that him and his wife have some property in Wickenberg. They invited us to come out to visit them and see their land. We finally took them up on their offer a couple of months ago.

Kade had the time of his life doing things that he normally doesn't get to do. This trip was before he was walking so he spent some time in the truck. He had lots of fun with all the buttons and knobs.
| We were ready for shooting! I was surprised that Kade left the headphones on as much as he did. Caleb got me to shoot the gun a couple of times but I was much happier as an observer. Especially because when I was the observer, it meant I got to be with the cutest kid in the world. |
| Of course anything sports related, Caleb is excited to do. He got to use the shot gun to shoot the clay pigeons and different guns on targets. (By the way, Caleb did well shooting at the target but that isn't anything too surprising. But guess who did really well at the target practice.. that's right-- me!) It was fun but I have had my gun shooting fill. |
| While we were out shooting we saw this friend there to join us for a drink. Kade didn't know what to think of the different animals that we saw when we were there. |
| Speaking of animals, our job while we were there was to get up in the morning to feed the chickens and collect their eggs. They made us a little nervous because right when you walk into the gate, they all start walking toward you! |
| At first, we couldn't figure out where the chicken scratch was so I was left alone with the hungry chickens while Caleb went to go check it out. |
| We found the food for the chickens and this gave us enough time to sneak in and collect their eggs. It was fun to see how many we could find each day. |
| It was super cold. You can tell by Kade's poor little red nose and cheeks! The cold didn't even seem to bother him, though. He was mesmerized by the chickens everywhere. |
| After we collected our eggs for the day, more fun was on it's way! |
| We went on a quad ride to see the property, another one where we went shooting and then a last ride when we had dinner out in the desert. This one was the one where we went to check out the property. (Don't worry, we went super slow! I still feel a little anxiety when I look at these pictures with all three of us on the quad..) |
| Kade was such a good boy. Vacations are hard on naptimes but he just let the sound of the engine be his white noise and he fell right asleep! |
| I don't think I will ever get over those cheeks. So when there is a sleeping baby + those mega cheeks, it totally melts my heart. |
| Like I said, this was before Kade was walking so he got to crawl in the wash. He seemed to really like the feeling of the sand. Maybe this means that we should plan a beach trip next! |
| This night we had dinner out in the desert. It was a delicious stew that our friend made. It was fun to get out and feel like we were camping without having to deal with Kade in a tent. |
| Our friend let us go on a sunset quad ride with just us two while he stayed with Kade. It was super fun! |
| All in all I would say that it was a great mini vacation! |
